Psychophysics of shape from shading

Experimental observations:

• Task is very hard: mean error .
• No effect of glossiness no Lambertian assumption;
• No correlation between judgements of light direction and shape no prior estimate of light direction;
• Poor discrimination between eccentric/rounded ellipsoids qualitative information.
