Essay topic:
Consider information extraction systems and/or summarization systems as described in the lecture and in either of the papers below. Discuss how one or more components of such systems (e.g. syntactic analysis, pattern matching to extract the key facts, coreference resolution, event coreference across documents) might benefit by considering a cognitively plausible approach to the subtask.
